On today's blog, I do an unplanned stop at Karangahake Gorge in the heart of The Coromandel. I was on my way up to Auckland from Tauranga when I saw myself driving through an amazing looking gorge. I wanted to stop but did not see a shoulder that was safe to stop for some photos. Then I see a sign for a viewing stop up ahead. Well, it was more than a viewing spot but a trail! So I had to stop of course since I had some time before I needed to be in Auckland. I come to find out that this is an old historic gold mining area. There are several walks you can do and a few swing bridges to cross and some tunnels to explore. It is some of the best views I have seen in NZ all in one place. A must stop if you are in The Coromandel.
As always you can find how I took this photo over at my YouTube channel.
